JOB TITLE:  Facility Maintenance Laborer

SUMMARY

Performs a variety of general maintenance duties including maintaining company building and grounds. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receives and carries out instructions.
  • Provides care for company grounds including such activities as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, raking and landscaping. 
  • Repairs and replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, sheet rock, and wall coverings.
  • Engages in painting and performing structural repairs to woodwork and furnishings of buildings.
  • Picks up and disposes of garbage on company property. 
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.  Performs other minor electrical repairs as needed. 
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.  Performs other minor plumbing repairs as needed. 
  • Performs indoor maintenance duties such as painting, cleaning windows, etc.
  • Waters and maintains garden on a regular basis. 
  • Performs seasonal maintenance duties such as lawn care, removing leaves, and snow removal. 
  • Performs janitorial duties such as cleaning bathrooms and showers as needed.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write, talk, see and hear.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 lbs. as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The nature of the environment is one in which the employee may come in contact with outside weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or extreme heat and excessive noise levels.
