We offer tremendous opportunities for drivers that few, if any, other trucking companies can provide. Our drivers have the flexibility of driving in the three main divisions of van, temperature control, and flatbed/specialized. Within these divisions, the opportunities consist of national, regional, or local driving and involve single, team, and dedicated or private fleet drivers.

Refrigerated
Shaffer Trucking, Crete's temperature-sensitive division, began doing business in 1937 as an irregular route truckload carrier of general commodities. Shaffer was acquired in 1974, and today is one of the largest, premier temperature- sensitive truckload carriers in the United States with 1,400 tractors and 2,800 trailers. Sunflower Carriers, another temperature-sensitive fleet was merged into Shaffer in 2003.

Dry Vans
Crete Carrier's largest division and fleet is the national, over-the-road dry van fleet. This fleet, which consists of approximately 4,000 Company and Owner/Operator tractors and 10,000 trailers, transports non-hazardous commodities such as food, paper goods and consumer products, serving all 48 states along with Canada and Mexico.

Flatbed and Specialized Service
Hunt Transportation, Inc., is the Flatbed and Specialized Service Division of Crete and is headquartered in Omaha, NE. Hunt began doing business in 1927 and became part of the Crete organization in 2001. This flatbed division consists of 400 tractors and 800 trailers, which transport agricultural and construction materials/equipment and any commodity which requires flatbed, single-drop, detached, curtain van or stretch-flat type trailers.

Dedicated/Private Fleets
Dedicated fleets transport freight for specific customers, usually into or out of one or more customer-controlled locations. Depending on the type of the customer's dedicated operation, the driving can be long haul, over-the-road, or regional operations. Dedicated or private fleets provide great pay, with predictable work schedules, freight volume, consistent miles and weekly home time. Dedicated fleet opportunities are available: Bartlesville, Oklahoma; North Platte Nebraska; Sterling, Illinois; GM Dry Van.

National
The National fleet is the largest fleet within the company and transport customer freight throughout all 48 states and into Canada. The National fleet provides load select dispatch, offers the highest rate of driver pay and length of haul.

Regional
Regional fleets transport customer freight within one specified region of the country. Regional fleets offer consistency with respect to miles, customer location, travel routes, volume of freight, and home time. Regional fleet opportunities are available in the Mid-Atlantic, Mid-South, Midwest, Southeast, and Western.

Team Board
Our team board provides dedicated dispatch for teams to maximize productivity within the D.O.T. hours of service guidelines. This fleet recognizes a higher percentage of no-touch, longer haul, and priority dispatch type of freight.

Driver Trainer
The company has a trainer fleet available where certified trainers assist less experienced drivers to freshen up their skills before they are allowed seated in a truck as a single driver. Qualified trainers are assigned one driver for one to eight weeks of training. Trainers receive additional weekly compensation for providing this service.
