Driver Friendly Programs

Family Rider Policy
Crete Carrier Corporation has one of the more progressive rider policies in the trucking industry, allowing specific family members to ride along at no cost to the driver. Authorized passengers under the family rider policy are:

  • Spouse, which includes "common law" spouse where permitted by law
    or
  • One child, stepchild, foster-child or grandchild 4 years of age or younger, provided they are accompanied by the non-driving spouse
    or
  • One child, foster-child, stepchild or grandchild 5 through 18 years of age, with or without the non-driving spouse.

Generally, we allow only one authorized passenger on the truck at any time except children age four or younger who must be accompanied on the truck by the driver's spouse. All authorized passengers must be cleared and authorized by the Safety Department before getting on the truck.

Home Time
We believe it is important to get you home frequently. In the national fleet, you can expect to be away from home for one and a half to two and a half weeks, depending on where you live. A good barometer to use to keep your productivity high and home time consistent is take one day off for every six days of driving. As an Owner however, you set your home time to meet your business needs.

Regional and dedicated fleet drivers who live in the region or where the dedicated fleet operates are generally home or through their home more often than national drivers.

Load Select Policy
All Company Drivers, Owner/Operators and Fleet Contractor Drivers working for Crete Carrier Corporation will be treated equally with respect to the dispatch of available freight. Our objectives are to provide quality service to our customers, minimize empty miles, maximize the productivity of our drivers and efficient utilization of all available equipment.

As a driver, you will receive one preferred load from dispatch. If there is more than one low deadhead, preferred load available, you may be offered a second or possibly even a third load. Preferred loads are determined by the Operations Department Staff and Management based on the following:

  1. Quality, on-time service to our customer.
  2. Driver's ability to deliver the load on time within the legal requirements of DOT.
  3. The optimum match of all available freight and equipment to maximize driver and equipment productivity and minimize deadhead miles.
  4. Dispatching of equipment as it becomes available. First empty, first dispatched.

Orientation
As part of the driver qualification process,
all driver applicants cleared for hired by Crete Carrier Corporation
will be required to attend a two-day orientation in Lincoln, NE. For
our Owner/Operators some transportation reimbursement is available and

successful completion of orientation.

E-ZPass/I-Pass

The company utilizes the E-ZPass transponder for ease in paying tolls
in those locations where E-ZPass is authorized. This includes the
Illinois toll road where I-Pass is operational. While your truck will
have an assigned E-ZPass transponder, not all travel on toll roads or
turnpikes is authorized. Toll roads, and turnpikes which are
authorized, are approved at time of dispatch by virtue of being
included within the suggested fuel routing you receive via Qualcomm®.

24-Hour Road Service

Crete Carrier Corporation provides road service 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week in the event you encounter maintenance-related issues with your
tractor or trailer. This road service operates under the division title
of Acklie Maintenance Service (AMS).

Referral Fee

The company will pay you referral fee of $1,000 for each qualified
driver or team you refer to the company. The fee is paid $500 when the
referred driver successfully completes Driver Orientation and $500
ninety days later.

Haz Mat Reimbursement

company pays its DOT qualified Company Drivers and Owner/Operators the
sum of $100 to reimburse them a portion of the cost associated with
securing the renewed Haz Mat endorsement. The payment is made at the
time the renewed endorsement is presented to the Safety Department.
